I received several notifications for new postings to blogs I subscribe to this past week, and it reminded me that I have one. I googled it a few weeks ago, as I have a new computer and no longer even had the site bookmarked, and updated the look a bit. Then, I read the last post - which was very much related to something I wrote more recently, and which I'll discuss in a future blog - and abandoned the update effort until now.
While many things have changed...many have stayed the same. For example, I have in no way lost my passion for pyrography. In 2011, I continued to work with wood, and even participated in my first (and only, so far) craft fair. I also created a number of custom pieces, and had a lot of fun burning Christmas presents for family and friends.

In 2012, I discovered gourds. (Not that gourds were lost or unknown to anyone other than me!) A good friend of mine tried to get me to burn on gourds some 20+ years ago. I bought a starter box of gourds a few years ago. Every six months or so, I would look at them...maybe even pick one up...and wonder what, exactly, people did with them. Then, I did something I rarely do. I sought guidance and direction. I was sick, stuck at home with little energy to do much, and stumbled across a DVD I had purchased called, "How to Woodburn on Gourds." That was all it took! The first gourd I burned went to the friend who had a vision for my gourds over two decades before I did. I've made others for friends, family and to sell. I have five requests in the queue. As another dear friend noted - I believe I have my niche!

Pyrography continues to be my medicine and passion. Creating is so healing, and I am so grateful that THE Creator has blessed with such a passion and gift.
I was not sad to say goodbye to 2012...and am slowly embracing each day in 2013. I am looking forward to much blogging and burning. Stay tuned!
