This page shows some of my favorite burnings. As I haven't done any work commercially, each creation is designed for a specific individual and has a bit of a story behind it.
Melissa Etheridge: Melissa is one of my favorite recording artists. An interest in Melissa's music was key in the introduction of two long-time friends of mine. I burned this for one of them. I had a VERY hard time parting with it! The design is based off from Melissa's "Never Enough" album cover. At the time, I was using a single temperature, solid-point woodburning tool.
Owl: I made this burning for my Mom, from whom I get my love for owls. The pattern came from Lora Irish's Great Book of Woodburning. I ran into some problems when I applied the finish, which I have yet to fix. Thus, the plaque is still sitting in my studio.
New England Patriots: While I am a die-hard Redskins fan, I accept my father's passion for the Patriots. I saw a poster on the Internet with this design and thought it would make a fun burning. It turned out to be one of the more challenging projects I've done in a while, especially as the didn't come with a nice line pattern to transfer to the wood! Color was added using oil pencils.
Little Girl & Teddy Bears: I completed this from a pattern in a Walnut Hollow Farms pyrography book when I was stationed in Italy. While I originally intended this to be for my personal collection, my three-year-old neighbor batted her long eyelashes and ended up taking it home for herself.
Koala Bear: I have a friend who loves Koala bears. When I stumbled across this picture of one of the furry creatures in a magazine, I knew I had to burn it for her.
Hard Times Cafe: What can I say? The Hard Times logo screamed to be burned! Sometimes, I come across a logo or picture and can see it burned on wood. I enjoyed doing this, and donated it to the Hard Rock Cafe in Bethesda, MD in exchange for a free bowl of chili!
